The picture I added to my profile:
has been cropped from a bigger picture:
I needed an electronic picture for a celebration and this was the only one I had loaded on my computer at the time. The celebration was for a group that had memorized Philippians 3:7-21...so it wasn't the kind of thing that you'd ordinarily want to be pictured posing with a pig's head. So somebody wiser than I am at these things cropped the picture. At first, I thought, wow, that was really cool. Then I noticed that my scars were on the wrong side of my face, people are going to notice. Finally, I realized that nobody but me even notices those silly scars any more. It's funny how scars are...each one has a story involving some kind of trauma that the recipient always remembers...but most of them fade for the most part. I may blog about that on my more serious blog.
The thing is that this skilled person couldn't crop the sarcastic grin off of my face. People don't notice the scars, but it's hard to miss that grin. You see, Garland, the gentleman holding the pig's head in the picture had a pig roast for our homecoming a while back. I was the newbie and was supposed to kiss the pig's head, but Garland settled for getting a picture of me and the silly pig's head so that he could have it displayed on the church overhead. This is why I didn't mind sending it to the celebration. I am glad that the picture was altered for it though.
Without the pig's head part, however...you have to wonder why I would be completely happy and completely sarcastic at the same time. If you've read this blog or known me for any length of time, you know that this isn't too far from my normal disposition. However, when I comment on other blogs, I look like I'm patronizing the blogger. It's kind of funny, but I'm going to have to suck it up and pose for a real profile picture. The thing is...I hate getting my picture taken and tend to have dumb looks in pictures. This is why I didn't have some other picture for the celebration. Which would be worse...dumb look or sarcastic look? hmmmmm...
