I was tagged

I was tagged by Sarah...Marcia's daughter. She has a blog that I started following when I started this blog. You can click on the link to Sarah's blog and see what the rules are. I have a few friends who send me these kind of thigs by email and I even have a friend who sends them via txt messaging. I rarely forward them, but I usually respond to them...so I'm breaking all the rules except the posting 7 random/weird facts about me on my blog (I may even throw in a couple of extras since I broke the other rules). (This is going to be a challenge because I'm pretty transparent and don't have a lot random or weird facts that are hidden from my friends.)

1. I like the super heros from the comic books. I used to collect Superman, Batman and Spiderman comic books when they only cost a quarter. I even followed X-men for a while. I liked them so much that I would practice drawing them. I still watch all the Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and X-men movies once they come out on video.

2. I didn't like dolls and girly stuff as a kid. I gave all my Barbies to my little sister and kept the Kens just to pretend they were super heros. They didn't have action figures back in the day. My best friends before junior high were boys. I liked shooting little plastic army men with rubberbands and climbing trees with them.

3. I don't really hate dogs and cats like I tell all my friends. I'm just allergic and it comforts me somehow to pretend that I hate them so that I won't miss getting to pet them and play with them or even have them. This even applies to the occassional hamster that Chrissie gets.

4. My top three favorite Christmas gifts growing up were:
a. a Stuffed Snoopy that you could change outfits for.
b. a guitar
c. a purple nerf football
In that order. I had other cool gifts like bikes and a western saddle, but I still like Snoopy, I still play the guitar, and I still like to throw a football even after all these years.

5. I always wanted a tattoo, but never had the nerve to get one. I wanted a little cross on the back of my shoulder to reflect my faith when I was in high school. I'm glad I didn't get one. For me, having a cross on the back of my shoulder might occassionally bring shame to my God because I'm imperfect. I'm glad I've never gotten a fish on the back of my car for that same reason. Imagine getting a ticket for speeding with a fish on the back of your car. (After reading Sarah's blog on her tattoos and my daughter's now ex-boyfriend getting a PINK musical symbol heart tattoo on his chest to match her's that he feel's the need to put a quarter rest down the middle of becuase she broke his heart and her current boyfriend getting a matching "stay young" tattoo, I think tattoos are probably not a good idea in general. I hope that she doesn't have to many more boyfriends before she settles down. That could be embarrassing having to explain when people ask about them.)

6. I love to watch sports of almost any kind. Even if I don't know who's playing. Football gives me warm fuzzy feelings because I remember my grandfather and great uncle explaing the game and how much I loved being with them instead of with the women for Thanksgiving. I love baseball and hot dogs with saur kraut and mustard. I had to consciously quit following teams because my husband and kids feel neglected if I watch too much...but if they're busy...I watch a game of any team playing any sport and have a blast.

7. I am very good at aiming. I used to bowl, play darts and play pool and made grown men mad when I beat them as a kid. I used to target parctice with my uncle's antique gun collection and rarely missed what I was aiming at. In 6th grade I was out with my friend Brian shooting a pellet gun and shot a sparrow. I was horrified. I don't know what I thought would happen if I hit it. I didn't think. I still feel bad about that when I reflect on it. How do people hunt?

8. I am mushier than I let on. I usually joke during sentimental moments...actually any moments are fair game for joking around, but I digress. :) I cry at mushy movies if no one is around, but if someone (like my husband) is watching a mushy movie with me and cries I usually make fun of them for crying partly to keep from crying myself. (Unless it's a commercial...come on...who can't suck it up for 60 seconds?...my husband :))

9. I am hairy. If I wasn't a Christian, I would totally understand how people could think I was evolved from an ape. I have an adult son and husband who are not as hairy as I am. People don't notice often because I'm blonde so the hair on my arms and face isn't that noticable. Chrissie just noticed a year ago and said, "Geez mom, you could comb and braid the hair on your arms. Why don't you shave them?" I have to shave my legs on the day that I know that they will be seen, not the day before. I noticed that on my last training session with Marcela. My stubble was a cenitmeter high and I had just shaved the day before becuase I knew I wouldn't have time the next day. Again, thank you God for making me blonde if you were going to make me this hairy. :)

10. I am just nuerotic enough to think that I really ought to have 10 random things to tell you, just to have a real list. OCD...maybe....
