June 23, 2008 (Birthday)

Yesterday morning, when I was merely 43 I ran more of the Killer trail than I have since I was 38. I felt pretty proud of myself, but on the way home I went to wipe the sweat off my face and it was covered in hard granules of what felt like sand but upon closer inspection it was salt from all of that sweating. I got home and began laundry and noticed that the laundry that needed washing smelled disgusting and it was all my fault. It's a good thing that I've started doing a load a day this summer. Yuck!!!!

Today, I mainly walked the flatter part of the Killer Trail because the humidity was intense and now I'm 44 so I'm not as young as I was before. hehehe... I actually looked like I had jumped into the lake, no salt today. So, I can now use my sweat as a barometer. I already can use my aching bones as a predictor for precipitation. Matt and Chrissie have noticed my efforts to eat better and exercise more. Matt said to me when I came back from the trail all slimy and disgusting, "Mom, I think you should start running the trails instead of walking them. Just find a pace that's comfortable and keep doing it for the whole trail. You'd be surprised at how fast you'll get into shape. That's what I do. You don't have to go fast or anything." Apparently, he didn't notice how slimy and disgusting I was from mainly walking. So I said, "Matt, I am going as fast as I can. Most of the time it's a fast walk and every now and again I get up enough energy to jog very slowly. My goal is to sometimes be able to slowly jog the Killer trail, but if I try to do that now I will have a heart attack and die." He said, "Oh." I guess he doesn't realize what a toll the 26 years that are between us can put on a body, especially one that has gotten out of shape. Goof ball!

Hey Susie, I have taken 14,324 steps today....nanny nanny boo boo!!!!
