Day 8 (One Exercise at a Time)

Today’s routine was an evil joke played on me by the internet exercise twit. I never look too far ahead on the exercises of the day because I don’t know if I would have the will power to even start if I knew all of the exercises that were coming that day. Like AA says, “One day at a time.” I deal with one exercise at a time. The routine started with major leg and arm exercises, so I thought I was in good shape. AND instead of 3 sets of 15, there were 3 sets of 10. I thought---“cool, maybe she figured out why people weren’t signing up after 14 days!” WRONG! When the first set of jumping jacks came along, I thought, “I will not be defeated by jumping jacks again.” I found out that if you do them faster, they’re easier (I still am doing them no handed---I haven’t gotten to the store for that jumping jack proof bra yet). There were only two more types of exercises and then there were JUMPING JACKS again. I thought---“hey, what’s going on here? These things are only supposed to come at the beginning, middle and end.” So, I peeked at the rest of the routine. That freak of nature had cut back on the repetitions because she added jumping jacks (aka cardiovascular, in her words….heart attack, in mine) to the routine. I was NOT going to be defeated by jumping jacks two days in a row! I did ALL the exercises asked of me with the exception of jumping rope at the end because you need your arms for that. The only ridiculous thing that I noticed is that my fitness level for lateral raises is somewhere between the 10lb barbells that I have and the 14 ½ oz cans of triple succotash that I ended up having to use because I couldn’t laterally raise the barbells. I was so stoked after actually getting through the entire routine that I walked .8 of a mile and jogged .2 of a mile so that I wouldn’t have to feel bad for not jumping rope.

I hope this made you smile as much as the Sports Authority advertisement for jumping jack proof bras that was sitting on my computer when I came in to work made me smile. Thanks Randall, I actually DID laugh out loud.

Tomorrow is supposed to be rest day so I will likely do the yoga tape again, hopefully nothing funny happens with that.
