I woke up at 4:30 only to realize that it was pouring and I couldn't replace jumping jacks with walk/jogging. :-( I went back to sleep for an hour and considered not exercising because tomorrow is my rest day and it would not be quitting if I just rested today and not tomorrow...maybe it wouldn't be raining....I really hate jumping jacks). But I am anal if nothing else, so I got my achy butt out of bed. Rain makes me ache---especially this much of it. Randall will be thrilled to know that the twit finally added push ups. Three sets of 12. Thank God they came first because I wouldn't have managed them later in the cycle. I was suspicious that they were coming because they had us do 3 one minute planks (the up position of the push up) yesterday. I discovered that jumping jacks ARE harder to do with your arms. I could only do 20 at a time, but the twit had us do them so often that it still amounted to 400 jumping jacks!!! I also discovered that my friend Michele is right...I should have used an ace bandage instead of a sports bra. Sports bras keep you from falling out, but they don't offer any support. At one point during the jumping jacks, I noticed a clapping sound. At first I thought it was my knees (I make all kinds of creaking and popping noises---I am actually getting older), but it didn't take long before I figured out that it was just me needing more support. Now that the twit has me doing push ups maybe some of that issue will shrink away. It was kind of funny (weird, but funny)---it was like my breasts were cheering me on to the end. Any way, because I finished so early and had time to spare, I did the first 6 poses of the yoga tape to try and stretch the aches of the rain out of my legs. (I stopped when I got to the downward facing dog---I hate that more than jumping jacks. They really do give me a fierce headache.) I am sure that I made the right decision about keeping with the internet twit. There is no way I would be able to think of this many ways of torturing myself on my own. She comes up with a new way of making me see my limitations every day. At the end, I could only give her 9 of the twelve repetitions that she asked for. I have never pushed myself this hard under my own exercise plans. Oh, and as much as I hate to admit it, the stupid yoga did help take a little of the ache out of my legs. I only fell out of tree pose twice today---I am improving in many aspects of my conditioning even though I am still not up to the level of "level 1 beginner."
